Umbrian beekeeping dates back to the first civilizations that inhabited the region and was greatly perfected by the Etruscans and Romans.
As a variety, Umbrian honey producers make chestnut honey which is the most bitter of the other classic honeys, the wildflower most commercialized and used in various ways, alfalfa honey and acacia honey.
